God's Perfect Love
GOD’S PERFECT LOVE
Join your Calvary Chapel family today (Sunday, August 24, at 10:00 a.m.) in the main sanctuary or online through our website (www.calvaryinv.com), Facebook, and YouTube (Calvary Inverness) as we continue our series on the book of 1 John (4:12-21).
God’s love isn’t of this world. Nothing can compare to it—a love that is selfless, sacrificial, and offers eternal life to everyone who accepts His gift. It transforms the person in Jesus from the inside out, changing every part of their life for all eternity.
Nothing remains the same. Their character, conversations, and conduct have all been touched, cleansed, and set apart for God’s glory. Physically, they look the same, but it doesn’t take long to notice they've changed.
That love John describes was purchased on the cross when Jesus, who hung between heaven and earth, with His dying breath cried out with all the strength that remained with Him, “It is finished” (John 19:30).
Jesus had completed His mission. Through one single, selfless, sacrificial act, He made it possible for sinful man to be reconciled to a holy, just, righteous God. And, by doing so, adopted them into God’s family and branded them with His name, thus making their hearts His temple in which He dwells forever.
That love prompts a response—an ongoing one in return toward those who are part of God’s eternal family. A command written on the believer’s heart drives them to love their spiritual brothers and sisters with the same love that Christ has shown them.
A love that does not seek to position itself in favor of God.
Instead, because of His favor resting upon them, they actively seek to love everyone who is part of the church family. This is also an active, ongoing, selfless, sacrificial love that builds up their fellow believers in the most holy faith. Like a beacon, it shines brightly into the community, showing they are true disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.
May our church family realize that the same purpose God had for the early church still applies today. May our love for Him, His Word, and each other, along with our desire to serve, continue to grow until His return.
In His Strong Love,
Pastor
